The 4pm Temperature reading at Muscatine tells how dangerous the heat is. The temperature was 99 with a heat index of 128! The dewpoint was 84. This is close to being very dangerous. Now I would caution, the Muscatine temperature readings in the past have tended to be overzealous and there isn’t any other heat index readings over 112 anywhere else in Iowa nor is there any other temperature readings in the state over 95 except at Chariton. Just a sign of how hot it is in Iowa today.
