All of Iowa

Evening Notes

It’s still quite warm at 9pm across the state of Iowa. The warmest reading was 88 with a heat index of 100 at both Shenandoah and Council Bluffs. Both places were 99 with heat indices near 120 earlier in the afternoon. Radar is quiet right now, but that could change as the enviroment is VERY unstable but a cap in the atmosphere is keeping any thunderstorm development or cloud development from occurring. Any storms that do break the cap this evening and overnight have the capability of becoming severe with large hail and damaging winds, mainly north of US Hwy 20. SPC Discussion

Otherwise, outside of any thunderstorms that might get going, it will be a very warm and humid night over the state with lows falling into the upper 60s to upper 70s. Monday should be another hot one with highs in the 90s with heat indices of 105-115 across the state.
