All of Iowa

Slight Risk Thursday

There is a slight risk for Severe Weather for areas north of a line from Guttenberg (along the Mississippi River) to Hamburg (in extreme SW Iowa near the Missouri border and River). The main threats will be large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado or two. Most of the severe weather will occur late in the afternoon, mainly after 4pm or so. Along with the severe weather, heavy rain is a good possibility. Given the river levels and what is forecasted to fall in the next few days, river flooding is not likely to happen, BUT urban and small stream flooding may occur with some of the larger downpours. The rest of the day will be hot and humid with highs in the mid-upper 80s to lower to middle 90s with heat indices exceeding 100 in some places.
