Very windy system

Wind Dammage 1 s Clayton taken April 12th

Wind damage taken April 12th Clayton,WI

We had a strong storm system come though, it
started on Thursday as Rain, then turned to heavy wet snow, the snow stuck to anything wet and froze, making the trees heavy very fast. There was lighting with the sleet/snow on Thursday night! The winds with this system were 30+ MPH highest gust at my place was 35MPH there was some minor tree damage in our yard ( picture above) this branch is 1.50 in diameter, but as we drove around the area I seen lots of large whole spruce Branch’s down, The worst damage I saw was a full grown Aspen tree went down in my aunts lawn ( in picture above) the tree snapped right off at the base! The heavy snow and high winds was too much. Snow accumulation with the storm was 3.5 inch’s here with as much as 8 inch’s just to the north. here is some snowfall reports

Sarona,WI 10.5 inch’s
Rice Lake,WI 8.0 inch’s
Grantsburg,WI 7.0 inch’s
Clayton,WI 3.50 inch’s

  1. Indeed it was windy. I didn’t see whole downed trees, only branches along the lake back on Thursday I believe. It’s been breezy every day since, and I believe all the ice is finally off the might Lake Winnebago.

I am excited for the weather to come!
